How do I submit an obituary to be published on somd.com and is there a cost to do so?

Our obituary and death notices are published at somd.com/announcements/obits/

If you would like to submit an obituary for an immediate member of your family to be published, please email the information and photo to psa@somd.com. Where possible, please include a reasonably high resolution photograph.

We do not charge a fee to post an obituary, setting us apart from newspapers and many other websites. However, if you value our service, we kindly ask you to consider making a donation to support its sustainability and improvement.

After posting your announcement, we will promptly send you an email containing the link to the obituary page. In that email, you will find options to make a donation, should you wish to contribute. We accept various payment methods, including credit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, and even checks sent via the US Mail.

Your support is immensely appreciated and enables us to continue offering this invaluable service to others in need.

If you're unsure about an appropriate donation amount, let's provide some context: as of May 2023, the local newspaper charges a minimum of $85 for a maximum of 25 words and just one day of print exposure. Regardless of the amount, your contribution plays a significant role in helping us sustain and improve our service.
